proposed Sanghavasa for Nagiri Aranya Senasana, Dorakumbura, Padiyatalawa
September 2012
The Buddhist Media Network has launched a program to help restore Buddhist temples and ancient sites in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. Nāgiri Aranya Senāsanaya in Padiyatalawa is one of the sites selected under this program. This site has a large natural rock cave and it is believed to have been used by forest monks for many centuries in the past. We are seeking your kind assistance to build a basic Sanghāvāsa for this Aranya Senāsana.
Summary
The Buddhist Media Network has launched a program to help restore Buddhist temples and ancient sites in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. Most of these sites are either located in under-privileged communities or surrounded by non-Buddhist communities, thus making it very difficult to obtain the basic requisites for the resident monks and maintain the temples. Finding resources to improve the basic facilities like Shrine rooms, Buddha statues, Bodhi prākara and Sanghāvāsa/kuti has been even more difficult.

Nāgiri Aranya Senāsanaya in Dorakumbura,Padiyatalawa is one of the sites selected under this program. This site has a large natural rock cave and it is believed to have been used by forest monks for many centuries.
