January : Duruthu Full Moon Poya Day:
The important significance of Duruthu Full Moon Poya Day, marks Gautama Buddha’s first visit to Sri Lanka. Twenty-five centuries back, nine months after his Enlightenment, the blessed one visited Mahiyangana, in the Uva Province of Sri Lanka. His mission was to restore peace, to create a state of freedom from war or violence. The old chronicle Mahavamsa records and states "To free the beautiful land from the evil doing Yakkas". On his first visit to Sri Lanka, the awakened one, arrived at a spot, where now stand the Mahiyangana stupa.

Bak Poya Day commemorates the second visit of the Buddha to Sri Lanka which took place in the fifth year of his Supreme Enlightenment.
May : Vesak Full Moon Poya:

The significance of Wesak lies with Lord Buddha, it was on a Wesak full moon day (somewhere around 6th century BC) that he was born as Prince Siddhartha to a regional king and queen near the now India-Nepal border. And it was on a Wesak full moon day, 35 years later that he attained enlightenment. It was also on the same day another 45 years later that the enlightened one passed away.
Buddhists all over the world celebrate this day for its symbolic significance. Some prefer to observe 'sil' which means that they will spend the day, disciplining themselves to behave in the fashion of an 'arhath' disciple. Practicing 'morality', 'compassion', 'humility' and meditation to calm the mind.

Binara Full Moon Poya Day commemorates the Buddha's visit to heaven to preach to his mother and celestial multitude.
October : Vap Full Moon Poya Day:
Vap Poya Day commemorates the conclusion of the Buddha's preaching of the Abhidhamma for three months to his mother in the Heavenly realm.
November : Il Full Moon Poya Day:
Il Poya Day commemorates the obtaining of Vivarana(the assurance of becoming a Buddha) by the Bodhisatta Maitriya and the commissioning of 60 disciples by the Buddha to disperse his teachings.
December : Unduvap Full Moon Poya Day:
Unduvap Poya Day denotes the arrival of the Bo-tree sapling.
