is established to perform the task of propagation of the Dhamma to the mankind and towards mind unshaken

 

The Buddhist is the Premier Buddhist Television Channel in Sri Lanka and is dedicated primarily to the spreading of the sacred Teaching of the Supremely Enlightened Buddha and issues associated with spiritual matters

 

The content being transmitted focus the philosophic aspect of Buddhism and distributed via satellite round the Clock spreading to the global viewers right round the earth

Establishment and the commitment

 

The channel is a non profit oriented Organization inspiringly pioneered by Venerable Daranagama Nayaka Thero the Chief Incumbent of Sri Sambodhi Viharaya Gregery’s Road Colombo 7 Sri Lanka. The generosity of both individuals and the Institutions in the public and private sectors is its main stay.

 

 

It is pertinent to point out here how this first ever Sri Lankan exclusively

 Buddhist Television Channel came into being. A pious gentleman by the nameof Mr. Muhunthan Canagey, who belongs to the Tamil Community and is a born Hindu who was the CEO of CBN Sat the first ever DTH service

in Sri Lanka, was the originator of this Channel and when this Company

was to be acquired by the Dialog TV, he insisted on having a Sri Lankan

Buddhist Channel in their religious program package and donated

all the equipment including the Studio to Sri Sambodhi Viharaya.

On inaugurating the first ever Buddhist TV Channel the Chief Guest His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksha the President of Sri Lanka said

 

 We live in a world at a juncture where The Buddhist Philosophy and the principles need to  illuminate the whole world We should offer the best gift “Dhamma of supremely enlightened Buddha “ to all mankind who suffer the life in view of many conflicts and unrest between them, The people may be convinced that the best and only solution is found in the four noble truth and the path for elimination of suffering in the sacred teaching of lord Buddha

The channel is duly  registered at the Sri Lanka  Business registration Bureau in accordance with the business registration Act of Democratic ,Socialist and Republic of Sri Lanka and functions as fully non profit oriented charity Organization since the year 2007

 

Following Directors/Committee  chaired by the Venerable Daranagama Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thero as the President extend their honorary service to the Organization

 

 

 

President Ven Daranagama Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thero

 

The Chief Incumbent of Sri Ssmbodhi Viharaya  of Gregory’s Road Colombo 7 Sri Lanka   Venerable Daranagama Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thero.  spared no pains to counter the vilification of Lord Buddha. He emphasized the need of a Buddhist TV channel to mankind and  brought this to the notice of all concerned and obtained the assistance of all individuals.

 

 

Secretary (Honorary )

Mr. Suranimala Senaratne

 

Mr. Suranimala Senaratne acts as the honorary secretary to both Buddhist TV and Sri Sambodhi Vhiraya whilst assuring his responsibilities as the Managing Director toward his own business. His contribution towards the channel is greatly appreciated

 

Staff

 

General Manager

Lieutenant Commander Walter Perera steers the Organization with his 27 years of experience in the Navy / private Sector and professional knowledge of Master of Business Administration and several Post Graduate Diplomas on Quality Management Systems /HRD

He respectfully retired from the Navy in the capacity of lieutenant Commander due to the injuries sustained by whist on active service  on completion 13 years of service

 

Manager Program

Mr U K A De Silva acts the program manager and in addition to the role of production manager He also schedule the programs for the month His experience of nearly 13 years in the Television trade has contributed to develop many programs with the available resources 

 

Chief Cameraman

Mr L V  C Sirilal supervises and controls the video and lighting requirement and maintains the quality levels with minimum resources available His Experience of nearly 12 years contributes to achieve the quality product at all times

 

Executive Production

Mr Asela Gallage acts as the Production Executive and performs the production  of TV Dramas on philosophic aspect of Buddhism  His experience as Chief Editor in the trade has contributed to achieve the quality product

 

Editor

Me. T N Jayasinghe performs as the Editor and  is devoted to the service with his knowledge and the experience in the trade

Mr Chathuranga Jayaweera  Joined the channel from the beginning as Cameraman and devoted to the service
